The JCV will present 35 judokas, including the young hope of the sports association, Nhael Génissel. The youngest blue belt, aged 12, has indeed a promising profile. After taking second place last April at the departmental championship of Seine-Maritime in Forges-les-Eaux, he has just won the regional championship of Normandy on May 15 in Falaise. Student in 6th grade at Longueville College, Nhael began practicing judo at the age of 5.
Towards the French championship
“I especially appreciate the competition, the technical aspect of this sport and the conviviality that reigns in the club, confides the young athlete. I was very impressed by the size of the regional championship and very motivated to face judokas who came from all over Normandy. »
Alongside the two hours of weekly judo lessons, he devotes three hours a week to sports activities with his father and brothers – who also practice judo. From September 2022, he will move into the minimal category, which would allow him to qualify for the French championships.
“In the youngest category, there is no French championship, adds the young judoka. The highest level is the Normandy championship. As for the tournament next Thursday, I am very motivated and confident. »
