The youth section of the Fiamme Oro will be inaugurated in Vibo Valentia. The event will be held on June 1st in the presence of the Chief of Police – Director General of Public Security, Prefect Lamberto Gianniniat the School for Agents of Students.
The facility will be open to all who wish practice the disciplines of Weightlifting and Judo, making use of the teachings of qualified instructors belonging to the State Police. The event will also be attended by 70 students from the Vibonese schools, which they will be able to follow the performances of well-known Olympic athletes of the Fiamme Oro. In this way – reads a press release – the State Police strengthens the link with the Vibonese territory, offering young people the opportunity to approach a path of legality through sporting practice.
The gymnasium of the Vibo student agent school
It should be remembered – the press release reads again – that the gymnasium of the Allievi Agenti School is entitled to Roberto Iavarone, auxiliary agent who had carried out the training course in Vibo Valentia who, at the age of 20, in 1984 lost his life to save citizens at Rome Fiumicino airport. In that circumstance a Yugoslav convict, in the throes of a hysterical crisis, threatened the passengers in transit with a knife, when the agent Iavarone intervened to try to block him, being hit by two stab wounds. Seriously injured, he died while being transported to the hospital. Agent Roberto Iavarone was awarded a gold medal for civil valor, in memory.
