“In consultation with the local authorities and the rights holder, it has been decided to move the match R. Union St. Gilloise – R. Antwerp FC to Sunday May 22 at 4 p.m. (instead of 6.30 p.m.)”, explained Nils Van Brantegem, the Pro League calendar manager.
In principle, the two matches of the last day of the Champions’ Playoffs were to be played at the same time on Sunday at 6.30 p.m. but the classification is already fixed before this final day. Club Brugge have been crowned champions since Sunday while Union Saint-Gilloise will finish in second place ahead of Anderlecht, 3rd, and Antwerp, 4th.
The Pro League has also confirmed that the play-off for the last European ticket between Antwerp, fourth in the Champions’ Playoffs, and La Gantoise, winner of the Europe Playoffs, will not take place because the Gantois have already qualified for the Europa League thanks to their victory in the Belgian Cup.
