TV reporter badly hit in the head by baseball

RTL>sport>

It could have ended worse: At a baseball game in the USA, TV reporter Kelsey Wingert was hit hard by a baseball – on the head! In the match between the Colorado Rockies and the San Francisco Giants, a player slipped the ball over his bat. The hard ball flew towards the Rockies Bank and hit Wingert in the forehead. The 29-year-old was bleeding profusely, but was able to leave the stadium on her own two feet.

Luckily no internal injuries

With a “thumbs up” she signaled to the viewers that she was fine. A day later, she wrote on Twitter: “I got a 150 km/h line drive on my head.” She also posted a photo of her huge scar. According to her own statement, she was in the hospital for several hours, and the doctors sewed up her forehead with many stitches.

Wingert continues: “I underwent a computed tomography scan to make sure there was no internal bleeding or fractures and the result was clear. Thank God.”

Memories of Sebastian Rode

The reporter’s photo is reminiscent of Sebastian Rode. The Eintracht Frankfurt captain suffered a similar injury in the Europa League final against Glasgow Rangers, and posted a photo with his forehead scar a day later. (lgr)
