Interim assistant Talan leaves SC Heerenveen after 12 years

5:38 p.m.: Jeffrey Talan will leave SC Heerenveen after this season. Talan, 50, will finish the season as an interim assistant. He has rejected an offer to work within the youth academy.

Talan has worked at the Frisian club since 2010, where he played in the first team for eight years. The former attacker, who also played for the Orange squad, was youth coach in Heerenveen, head of youth academy and assistant coach.

„Jeffrey has an enormous track record at SC Heerenveen and we would have liked to keep him for the club. We think that Jeffrey’s strength lies in the personal development of talent and we therefore saw a role for him within the academy,” said technical manager Ferry de Haan.

Heerenveen, which receives Go Ahead Eagles on Sunday, is ninth and still has a chance of qualifying for the play-offs for European football.

Sparta captures defender Van Mullem for two years longer

3:39 pm: Sparta Rotterdam has signed defender Jeremy van Mullem for two more seasons. The 23-year-old defender signs a new contract that links him to Het Kasteel until mid-2024.

In the summer of 2020, Van Mullem came over from SSV Jedeloh in Germany and joined the selection of Jong Sparta Rotterdam. He has so far played ten matches in the Eredivisie and one match in the cup tournament.

“Jeremy is an example of how coming out for Jong Sparta helps enormously in the development of young players,” says technical director Gerard Nijkamp. “We still see plenty of room for development and will continue to work on this over the next two seasons.”

NEC striker leaves for RB Leipzig

11:30 am: Yannick Eduardo will leave NEC after this season for RB Leipzig, where he has signed a multi-year contract. The 16-year-old striker played for the Under17 team in Nijmegen.

The left-footed attacker, who has both Dutch and Czech nationality and was born in Kadan, scored 18 goals last season. “I am very happy with this step. I have had a number of conversations with the club in which I have become convinced. I feel that I am in the right place at RB Leipzig. My goal is to develop myself as well as possible in the coming years.”

FC Groningen captures Swedish mercenary

11.25 am: Groningen has signed Swedish mercenary Alex Mortensen for two years. The Eredivisie club explained the option that it had negotiated with Kalmar FF on the 19-year-old striker. Mortensen, who came to Groningen on a rental basis last year, is now stuck until the summer of 2024.

The Swede came into action as a substitute three times in the main force. Mortensen mainly plays with the promises. FC Groningen sees enough future in the striker to take him over permanently from Kalmar FF. “Alex is a player who plays with a lot of energy and, in our view, has the FC Groningen DNA,” said technical director Mark-Jan Fledderus. “We would like to see up close whether he has the potential to progress to the first selection.”

The current number 11 of the Eredivisie does say goodbye to wing striker Sebastian Tounekti. The 19-year-old Tunisian international, who comes from Norway, played this season as a mercenary for Bodø/Glimt in Groningen. It did not come to a debut in the main force.
