The season of firsts is over for Çukurova Basketball – Smart Agenda

Çukurova, who was shown as ‘the biggest candidate for the championships’ by the basketball authorities with the transfers it made during the summer period and opened the season with the Minsk match in the European arena with the slogan of ‘3 cups one heart’, gave its first test in the league against Bellona Kayseri Basketball. ÇBK, who gained morale by winning these 2 matches, left 3 European and 3 league matches with a win.

The orange-dark blue team, whose groups were unscathed in Europe and lost to Spanish Lointek Gernika by 24 points on the road in the first match of the last 32 tours, defeated their opponent by 29 points in the rematch and made their mark in the top round. After this match, Çukurova Basketball, which passed Flammes Carolo, BC Prometey and LDLC Asvel for the first time in its history, advanced to the Final Four in Europe for the first time in its history, lost to Kuanitra Holinsvort, who closed the season due to Achilles tendon rupture in the first match played against Asvel in France.

Mersin representative became the rival of Fenerbahçe Safiport in the final by beating Hatayspor in the quarter-finals of the Bitci Women’s Turkish Cup, which was organized at home, and OGM Ormanspor in the semi-finals. With the support of his fans, ÇBK won the final match from start to finish and became the owner of the trophy by signing another first in the club’s history. This achievement was recorded as the most important championship won by a Mersin team.

The orange-dark blue team went to Bourges, France for the EuroCup Women’s Final-Four organization right after the Turkish championship, and returned home after completing the championship as the 4th.

Çukurova, who made all the calculations on the league championship but struggled with injuries, was matched with OGM Ormanspor in the semi-finals of the Herbalife Nutrition Women’s Basketball Super League play-off series. Tiffany Hayes, whose lateral cruciate ligaments were torn in the second match of the series played in Mersin, had to leave the game and ended the season.

In the third and last game of the series, played in Ankara, Temi Fagbenle suffered the same injury as a result of the double struggle with his opponent and closed the season. Despite losing the 3-star name, Mersin representative, who made the series 3-0 and reached the final, faced Fenerbahçe Safiport in the final. Çukurova, who could not outdo her opponent in the series, finished the season as the play-off finalist and the 2nd.
