MACERATA – Sport at the heart of the Municipality’s activity between maintenance, new plants, future projects that see just under 8 million euros divided between interventions already carried out and above all those that are expected to start in the next few months to arrive at the most impactful ones that will be performed over the next few years. Thanks to municipal resources, funds arrived from the European City of Sport 2022 project and the Urban Regeneration call. Interventions intended, in the intentions, to change and improve the face of the city’s sports infrastructures.

«In our work there is a project, a vision of the city, a listening and sharing with the sports associations of what had to be done and what will be done in the coming months – affirms Riccardo Sacchi -. When we arrived at the city government we found a dramatic maintenance situation of the plants and we left immediately, with municipal resources to carry out interventions to stop the emergency. And this was the first step of work that we faced with our resources for about 500 thousand euros “.
The Macerata European City of Sport 2022 event then channeled further funding which, among the public ones added to the private ones, reached 250 thousand euros. “In this respect I want to thank the Marche Region that has sent us a contribution of 210 thousand euros for the European City of Sport – always underlines the commissioner Sacchi – of which 150 thousand in capital account and therefore plant maintenance and the remaining for current expenditure for events . Seven interventions on the sports facilities that will start shortly to end next September. Maintenance of the Collevario skating rink for about 32 thousand euros, then construction sites for baseball and softball diamonds that will be regenerated both in terms of the pitch and changing rooms, in particular for baseball by creating a club house for athletes and employees to an investment of 20 thousand euros. There are 4 thousand euros for the bowling green of Collevario while a flagship of these works will be the arrangement of the Largo Pascoli basketball court which will have the particularity of showing off particular and colorful artistic decorations with an additional 30 thousand euros. At the Diaz gardens, thanks to the support of a sponsor, the Municipality will put about 9 thousand euros for pitch and flooring, a calisthenics gymnastics system will be installed. Finally, we will buy the carpet for the pole vault at the Helvia Recina stadium for 14 thousand euros. With the residual funds we will also intervene on the football field of Madonna del Monte ».
But the largest of the loans dedicated to sports infrastructures is certainly that linked to Urban Regeneration which brings in 7 million euros which will specifically concern the Helvia Recina stadium for 4 million, the new rugby field in Villa Potenza for 2.5 million. euro and about 400 thousand euro for the palas Fontescodella.
In this case the offices are working on the design of the interventions that will be substantial for the two football and rugby stadiums, less impacting for the building whose construction site will be the first to open. In any case, the works to be completed in 2026 will have to be entrusted by June 2023. «As regards the Helvia Recina, the intervention will concern the reconstruction of the steps and the underlying changing rooms which will be adapted, made in accordance with the accessibility regulations also for the disabled. -Explains the councilor for Sport- The 4 million available will be entirely absorbed by these works, and if something is left over, we plan to carry out an intervention on the football field that needs it and possibly on the athletics track. For the rugby field we are at an advanced stage of the project which is agreed with the Macerata Rugby club and the federation itself: the goal is to build an excellent facility at a regional level. Finally, the sports hall will have less impacting works that can therefore be carried out with a shorter time frame: in this case, recalling the work already carried out last year to remove mold from the walls, the lighting system will be completely replaced led for an expense of over 100 thousand euros and another 270 thousand euros to renovate changing rooms and systems. Works that we hope to carry out in the summer of 2023, while for the more demanding ones of the sports fields they will have to be completed by 2026 as foreseen by the announcement ».
