Two years later and a pandemic in between, the León Exhibition Center once again hosted a new edition of the Municipal Sports Gala. An event in which a total of 65 prizes were awarded to the champion teams of the Schools, as well as the recognition of athletes and entities for their contribution to the sport of the capital and their merits.
The event began with the intervention of José Antonio Diez, mayor of León, grateful for Leon’s sporting career: “My most sincere congratulations to each and all, and let’s all continue together, you, your families and the City Council working for a sport every day better, more active and inclusive.
Half a thousand schoolchildren, classified between the junior and junior categories, from 13 sports disciplines such as chess, athletics, badminton, basketball, handball, boxing, climbing, futsal, rhythmic gymnastics, rugby, rescue, lifeguard, table tennis or volleyball were convened this Friday afternoon in the capital of Leon to be presented for the excellent municipal sports season.
The Cultural and Sports Leonesa, was the protagonist in the event with the delivery of the award for the contribution in the promotion and development of football in León, through a trajectory that extends throughout its century of history.
The Gala was led by José Manuel Contreras and the performances of various dance groups such as the Municipal Sports School of Artistic Gymnastics, the groups Peaky Brothers and Kids of Bel Air from the Emotion Dance Academy Dance School, closing the sports event with an exhibition of Capoeira by the group Capoeria Terranossa.
An event that returned to become the Leonese sports festival, showing that generation after generation the competitive future of the region is assured.
