The Diputación will hold the Sports Gala on Friday

The triple world champion in clay pigeon shooting, gold medal in Tokyo 2020 and new world champion in the Olympic Pit held in Lima in March, Alberto Fernández, will be awarded the Diputación de Toledo award at the XXVIII Sports Gala , which is being held again after the forced break due to the pandemic last year.

This was announced by the Deputy for Tourism, Crafts and Sports of the Toledo Provincial Council, María Jesús Pérez, at the press conference she offered to announce all the names of the winners at the Toledo Provincial Council sports gala, which will be held on Friday, May 6, at the Eurocaja Rural Conference Center in Toledo.

The deputy of the Provincial Government, who was accompanied by Gema María Gómez who will collect a special mention in Judo, advanced that the Institution will deliver a total of 40 prizes, distributed in the Toledo Provincial Council prize, the prize awarded by the sports press, 3 mentions special awards, and 35 provincial sports awards.

María Jesús Pérez referred to the obligation to suspend the 2021 edition to affirm that “we return with the same enthusiasm as always and the involvement with our athletes of all ages, to thank them for their achievements and conquests, and to recognize them in a very special gala , which will once again bring together the great sporting family of the province of Toledo, which in itself is excellent news for everyone, because it means that we have returned to the normality that we longed for so much”.

“From the Government of the Provincial Council of Toledo, chaired by Álvaro Gutiérrez -confirmed Pérez- we remain committed to our sport and our athletes, because we believe that practicing sports is a right that all citizens should enjoy, and for that reason We work together so that the sport reaches all corners of our province and can be practiced by whoever wishes to do so”.

It also referred to the sports programs managed by the Toledo Provincial Council and those developed in collaboration with other administrations, as is the case of the Community Board in the program “We are sport 3-18” or the regional championship of sport in school age .

And he thanked “the necessary cooperation to be able to carry out all the activities of the municipalities, the monitors, the provincial delegations of the sports federations and, of course, the athletes of all ages who are the true protagonists of everything that we make”.

In the three special mentions, the deputy stood out for this year’s winners: Juan José Arroyo Abenza, in adapted cycling-handbike-mh3; Gema García Gómez Antona, in judo; and Gabriel Mendoza Tello, in cross triathlon.

María Jesús Pérez also announced the 40 prizes that will be awarded at the gala next Friday, which will begin with the 35 provincial prizes in the disciplines of chess, athletics, motor racing, badminton, basketball, handball, mountain sports, sports for the intellectually disabled, functional diversity sports, fencing.

Also water skiing, soccer, futsal, greyhounds, rhythmic gymnastics, golf, hockey, judo and associated sports, karate and associated disciplines, kickboxing, motorcycling, swimming, orienteering.

And ball, fishing, petanque, canoeing, rescue and first aid, taekwondo, tennis, table tennis, archery, Olympic shooting, triathlon and volleyball.

The provincial deputy closed her speech by inviting everyone to attend the XXVIII Sports Gala of the province of Toledo on Friday, May 6, at the Eurocaja Rural Conference Center in Toledo, which will begin at 8:00 p.m.
