Thanks to today’s 3-0 victory over FC Turin, the AS Roma footballers secured a place in the European League in the Italian Serie A and can thus help Slovakia to move from the preliminary round of the Conference League to the qualification of the second best cup competition. UEFA has not yet confirmed the possible transfer of the Czech Cup winner to the preliminary round of the European League.
After today’s victory, AS Roma cannot finish worse in the Italian league than in sixth place, which ensures participation in the group stage of the European League. The second participant in the Feyenoord Conference League final, who finished third in the Dutch league, has a place in the preliminary round of the European League since last week, and Slovácko could thus move. So far, he has a certain participation in the 3rd preliminary round of the Conference League.
The calculations are based on how the Union of European Football Associations has progressed in recent years. The winner of the domestic cup was originally supposed to start in the 2nd preliminary round of the European Conference League, but after the elimination of Russian clubs due to the war in Ukraine, he moved to the 3rd preliminary round and maybe even jump up the competition.
AS Roma set out for the victory in Turin in the first half, when Tammy Abraham twice prevailed after huge mistakes in the home defense. The English national team first placed in the 33rd minute after a pass from Lorenzo Pellegrini, thanks to a loop in the penalty area, the Czech defender David Zimu and aimed exactly at the right post. Ten minutes later, he scored a penalty, which he also converted, and he closed the goal account in the first season in the AS jersey with 26 goals. He scored seventeen times in the league. Pellegrini also added a third goal in the beginning of the second half.
