Tenerife wins the Champions League

Tenerife won its second Champions League on Sunday by dominating another Spanish team, Manresa (98-87) in the final in Bilbao. Already winner of the first edition of the C3 in 2017 at home, the Canarian club made the difference after the break.

Then led by one point (49-50), the partners of the Brazilian playmaker Marcelinho Huertas flew over the rest of the events, especially in the third quarter won 33-17. Named MVP of the Final Four, Huertas (38) was once again the maestro (14 assists out of a collective total of 26 and 13 points) of Tenerife, current fifth in the Spanish Championship.

Sylvain Francisco (Manresa) out of address

The French rear and neo-international Sylvain Francisco (1.85 m, 24 years old) started with Manresa. The former Roanne scored 12 points with a low success on shots (3 out of 11). Tenerife, also finalists in 2019, have won their last eleven matches in the competition and succeed Burgos, winners in 2020 and 2021. This is the fourth final victory for a Spanish Liga Endesa team in six editions.

Two other French internationals, the back Isaia Cordinier and the pivot Mouhammadou Jaiteh will try their luck on Wednesday in another continental final, that of the Eurocup (C2), in a dry match at home with Virtus Bologna (Italy) against Bursaspor (Turkey) before the Final Four of the Euroleague (May 19-21 in Belgrade) where Fabien Causeur, Vincent Poirier and Guerschon Yabusele (Real Madrid), Moustapha Fall and Livio Jean-Charles (Olympiakos) and the doublet of defending champions Anadolu Efes Istanbul, Rodrigue Beaubois and Adrien Moerman.
