Sorare is expanding into baseball NFTs with MLB

Sorare today announced a new partnership with Major League Baseball (MLB), America’s oldest baseball league, to open the doors to baseball NFTs. The new game is scheduled to launch in summer 2022.

Sorare is reportedly working with Major League Baseball and MLB Players, Inc. on the new free-to-play NFT game, which will go live this summer.

Basically, fans will be able to access a non-fungible token-based platform to celebrate, share and own their passion for MLB through games, just like football has already happened.

In this regard, Sorare co-founder and CEO Nicolas Julia said:

“The connection between Americans and baseball is enduring. Baseball has always been at the forefront of new technology and innovation, so we are proud that MLB and the MLBPA have selected Sorare to provide NFT MLB games to fans around the world. Sorare and MLB’s new NFT fantasy baseball game

So more than just fantasy football, through this partnership, Sorare will offer a new game where fans can create the best NFT teams representing MLB players, in a live experience of baseball games with athletes, Clubs and leagues build connections.

Tony Clark, executive director of the MLB Players Association, also commented:

“Sorare has created a new baseball gaming experience that will get fans excited about collecting players’ NFTs, building winning lineups, and competing with baseball fans around the world. We’re very excited about our partnership, Sorare’s first foray into North American sports will have an impact on the development of our games globally.”

Sorare already has a community of 1.8 million registered users in 185 countries around the world, and only football is offered to them as an NFT game.

Additionally, the company has seen a 32% month-over-month increase in active users over the past 12 months and plans to further expand its young digital native audience in the US through MLB.

The most expensive NFTs in Serie A and the most followed players on the platform

At the beginning of March, Sorare also announced the ranking of the most expensive NFTs in Serie A, in which the 2.0 statuette of Naples striker Victor Osimhen (Victor Osimhen) was worth 30,000 euros, ranking first.

He is followed by Roma midfielder Nicolò Zaniolo, worth €22,000, and Inter defender Alessandro Bastoni in third, worth €22,000. 18,872 euros.

By comparison, the favourite player ranking based on the number of followers on the platform, Lautaro Martinez has 17,000 followers, closely followed by AC Milan goalkeeper Mike Mainian with 8,938 followers and Zlatan Ibrahimovic, with 7,245 followers.
