Silver for Fulda judoka Krüger – Lomb with fifth place

Saarbrücken/Munich (oz/pf) – Strong results for the Fulda Judo Club last weekend. On Saturday Christian Krüger (men) won silver at the 6th international Ursapharm Judo Cup in Saarbrücken, on Sunday Franziska Lomb (U15) achieved a strong fifth place in the federal U16 competition in Munich.

Last Saturday the 6th international Ursapharm Judo Cup took place in Saarbrücken. Christian Krüger (men) started in the -66kg weight class, which consisted of five participants. It was fought according to the “everyone against everyone” system, so that Krüger had to fight four fights.

The encounters against Gleb Ilyev (Judokan Landau), Denny Lallemand (Jc Folsterhöhe) and Tim Jochum (TG Rimbach) were all early for Krüger with his special technique Seoi-otohi, Hari-goshi and a score for O-Soto-makikomi (outside turning throw). decide. Only the later winner, 36-year-old Philipp Geimer (TV Heitersheim), had to admit defeat with a Waza-Ari rating. A great performance by Krüger, who was able to bring a wonderful silver cup back to Fulda at his 205th tournament.

On Sunday, the German Judo Federation invited to the U16 national tournament in Munich-Großhadern. Before the eyes of the national coach, the young judoka born between 2007 and 2009 had the opportunity to compete on a national level. Since there is still no German championship in the U15 age group, it was a great experience for Lomb (born 2008). At a high level she managed to get a placement in her weight class -52 kg. After a first win against Annika Obst (TSV Großhadern), she had to admit defeat in her second encounter to the later tournament winner Helen Möck (ARGE Baden Württemberg) after a balanced fight. After victories against Juliane Benz (SG Egelsbach) and Lea Heidl (Judo-Verband Berlin eV) in the subsequent consolation round, Lomb faced Ranandi Holstein (TSV Großhadern) in the fight for third place. The two already met in the small final at the national U15 screening in Backnang in March. If Lomb was ahead in Backnang, Holstein was able to win the second meeting in front of their home crowd, so that Franziska Lomb could be happy about a strong fifth place. Coach Mike Thiel was very proud of his young athlete’s performance. “Franziska has shown on a national level that she is one of the top German U16 judokas in the -52kg weight class. As a middle year she can take part in the event again next year.” She received her certificate for fifth place from the hands of Sandra Klinger, national coach of the female youth U18.
