Silver for Dani Franco and Rubén García from Granada in the World School Badminton Championship

The couple formed by the Granada Ruben Garcia and Daniel Francopupils of Salvador Franco, won the silver medal at the World School Badminton Championship, held in Normandy.

The Granadans stayed one step away from the title by falling in the final against the French Lucas Renoir and Yohan Barbieri.



The couple from Granada maintained their chances of winning until the last moment with a tight final result of 21-18 y 21-17 for the local tandem after 37 minutes of play.

They made their way until the end by defeating the favourites, from Chinese Taipei, and the local tough duo of Paul Tournefier and Arthur Wakhevitsch.

The way

The duo from Granada passed the preliminary phase as second in the group and was to more as the competition progressed, since in the quarterfinals they beat the Chinese Taipei pair of Chen Zhi-Yi and Lu Pei-Yang, who were favorites for the title, 21-14, 9-21 and 21-15.

After this duel, the Granadans won the duel of semifinals the French Paul Tournefier and Arthur Wakhevitsch by 21-14, 21-23 and 21-19).

To this medal must be added the mixed doubles bronze formed by Ana Caballero and Rubén García himself.
