Share Share! FIFA Game Changes Name to EA Sports FC

EA Sports have announced that they will be renaming their FIFA video game series EA Sports FC, ending a three-decade partnership with the world football federation.

EA Sports, which has been the producer of the popular soccer game since FIFA International Soccer in 1993, confirmed that this change would come after the launch of a new edition, FIFA 23, later this year.

The FIFA series, which is one of the best-selling gaming franchises in history, became a market-dominating football video game under EA’s direction, but the company revealed that from now on a new chapter would begin.

What does EA Sports say about FIFA?

“[Kami] want to start off by thanking this amazing community of over 150 million fans for helping build platform the world’s greatest football entertainment,” said Cam Weber, vice president of EA Sports.

“After nearly 30 years of creating the interactive football experience that has become the mecca of this genre, we are about to embark on a thrilling new era.”

“Next year, EA SPORTS FC will be the future of EA SPORTS football. Together with our 300 licensing partners across the sport, we are ready to take the global football experience to a new level, on behalf of football fans around the world.”

“Everything you love about our games will be a part of EA SPORTS FC – the same experiences, modes, leagues, tournaments, clubs and athletes are coming. Ultimate Team, Career Mode, Pro Clubs and VOLTA Football are here to stay.”

Will FIFA 23 still be launched?

In the statement, EA Sports confirmed that EA SPORTS FC will only launch in 2023, so the next edition of FIFA – FIFA 23 – can be predicted to be released as planned.

The edition will most likely be the farewell edition of the franchise, which together Mario, Pokemon, Grand Theft Auto, Call of Duty, and Sonic as the most popular and iconic in the history of video games.

More details will likely be released in the next few months, but EA Sports have already promised that their final FIFA game will be the most expansive edition ever.
