Saxony Cup final – 2:1! Chemnitz wins against Chemie Leipzig

Chemnitzer FC wins the Sachsenpokal for the 12th time! Coach Christian Tiffert’s team wins the final against regional league rivals BSG Chemie Leipzig 2-1. In addition to entering the first round of the DFB Cup, CFC can look forward to around 120,000 euros.

10,077 spectators, including former national team captain Michael Ballack (45), provide a great setting in the stadium on Gellertstrasse. First, the 1800 chemistry fans can cheer. 17 minutes: After a free kick from Dennis Mast near the baseline, Alexander Bury heads the ball into the goal from close range to make it 0-1.

The lead for the guests is fine at this point, because BSG Chemie is the better and more toxic team in the early stages. The CFC, on the other hand, has problems finding their way into the game, but still equalizes in the 38th minute. Free kick Kilian Pagliuca, header Tim Campulka – goal!

Then nothing happens for a long time. After an hour it’s back to normal. First, Mast misses the safe lead for chemistry. After a back pass from Robert Zickert that was too short, the Leipzig player runs towards Jakub Jakubov alone, but fails at the CFC goalkeeper (60th).

On the other side, Dominik Pelivan scores in goal, but team-mate Felix Brügmann is offside beforehand and the goal doesn’t count (62′). Chemnitz remains on the pressure, chemistry keeper Benjamin Bellot prevents the 2:1 for the CFC with a huge save against Campulka (66th).

The winning goal for the hosts comes late. 85 minutes: Christian Bickel hits the far corner from the edge of the penalty area. Ironically, Bickel! For the offensive player it is the last appearance in the CFC jersey, he ends his career as a professional soccer player after this season, just like chemistry captain Stefan Karau.
