San Martín goes for the feat of getting the ticket to the final in Córdoba against Instituto

San Martín de Corrientes will star tonight in one of the most important matches in its history. From 7:00 p.m. they will face Instituto, in Córdoba, to access the final of the National Basketball League for the second time. The challenge will not be easy for the team from Corrientes, but it has enough arguments to get the passage to the decisive series of the 2021-2022 season.

The fact of having reached chapter five is very commendable. The coach of the Corrientes team, Diego Vadell, highlighted it a few days ago after the series was tied 2-2. final. It is a game (the fifth) and everything is defined there. We played good games against Instituto in Córdoba and whoever plays the best will win. The final actions are of the players, of what the game presents, of the dynamics and there is not much else. We are very happy and I think we deserve the fifth game” commented the coach from Santa Fe.

Except in the third game, which the Corrientes team won by a difference of 30 (97-67), the other games in the series were even. Both teams did not take great advantages. Instituto won 83-76 and 90-84 in Alta Córdoba, and San Martín prevailed in the remaining 74-73, in the fourth chapter of the contest, with Leonardo Mainoldi’s double in the final moments.

After tying the series in Corrientes, where they won both games, hope is renewed and there is optimism in San Martín: “Obviously it can be done, we are convinced of that. We are ready to fight”, assured Gastón García, after leveling the series 2 to 2.

“We like the pressure of having to go out and win as visitors. We are a long team and we are convinced that we can do a great job”, added the point guard from Santo.

The mission for San Martín will not be easy. Instituto grows when he plays at Angel Sandrín, he has eight games without defeats on his field where he is undefeated during the playoffs. “When we went to Córdoba we wanted to steal a game, it was not possible. Afterwards, we knew we had to win both at home to force a fifth game. They did their job, we did ours and now we are going to the fifth game with their local team that put them up in the championship”, said Gastón García.
