Salta, world destination for table tennis

From June 3, the Youth Contender tournament will be held at the Delmi with players from Europe and all of America. Then the South American will be played.

The Salta table tennis leaders live days of great intensity. In a few days they will receive more than 300 players between the ages of 11 and 19 who will arrive from all over South America and others from Europe for the almost consecutive tournaments that will take place at the Delmi sports stadium starting on June 3.
That day the youth tournament Youth Contender will begin, one of the dates of the World Tour carried out by the World Table Tennis (WTT). Salta will be the scene for the first time of this type of competition for male players in the sub-11, sub-13, sub-15, sub-17 and sub-19 categories.
In preparation for the World Cup, the Argentine youth table tennis team will hold a concentration in our city with the participation of players from Buenos Aires, Entre Ríos, Salta and other parts of the country.
The local tennis players who will be involved in the concentration and who will also play the Youth Contender are: Brian Ocampo, Tomás Soria Castillo, Santino Jandula, Franco Varela, Federico Varela, Gastón Montanaro, Ambar Jandula, Tiziana Campos and Gemma Valerio. At the head of the concentration will be Matías Alto, one of the glories of Argentine table tennis and current DT of the selected team.
The Men’s Youth Contender will be played June 2-5 at Delmi Stadium, where seven tables will be set up for competition and another eight for pre-competitive work. There is a guaranteed presence of representatives from all over South America and players from Italy and Portugal will arrive from Europe.
The agenda will continue on June 7 with the start of the South American Championship for the sub-11 and sub-13 divisions; The Salta representatives in the continental tournament will be Tomás Soria Castillo, Ambar Jandula, Lena Carrizo and Gemma Valerio. It will compete in individual, double and team modalities until June 12.
One more will be added to these two tournaments, the Youth Contender for women scheduled from the 13th to the 15th of the same month for players from 11 to 19 years old, also at the Delmi stadium and being part of the official WTT calendar.
As the hours go by, the work intensifies so that these three international competitions develop perfectly for the good of table tennis and for future commitments to which Salta can aspire to host.
