Saint-Louis International Judo Tournament: Senegal eats the medals

The show was there on the first day of the Saint-Louis International Judo Tournament, this Saturday. The public was able to attend high quality finals for both men and women. Senegal distinguished itself with several medals among six competing countries.

Senegal made a real show of force ahead of the senior African games scheduled for May 26-29 in Algeria. Our country has distinguished itself by several medals won, including six (6) in gold equally divided between men and women, six (6) in silver, including three (3) for men and three (3) for women, six (6) in bronze including 3 (3) for men and three (3) for ladies.

The atmosphere was at its peak at the Didier Marie gymnasium in the old town. Accustomed to this major sporting event, fans of judo, simply sport, were seduced by experienced fighters. The public was able to make up for the two-year absence from the tournament – due to the disease linked to the new coronavirus – in a single day.

Hippons were not common this Saturday. Most of the winners have won their fights by points. This is why the confrontations sometimes took a long time because they used up all the time allowed by the clock.

The second day of competition is scheduled for Sunday. The Saint-Louis International Judo Tournament is being held in Senegal’s first capital this weekend from May 14 to 15, 2022.
