Rugby: due to the Paris Olympics, Marseille will host the Top 14 final in 2024

The final of the Top 14 2023-2024 season will take place in Marseille and not at the Stade de France as is customary, the Olympic Games oblige, the National Rugby League (LNR) announced on Monday.

“The holding of the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris and the conditions of use of the Stade de France by the event, do not allow the progress at the Stade de France of the final of the Top 14”, indicates the National Rugby League on the account Twitter of the Top 14. As a result, adds the LNR, “the final of the 2023-2024 season will therefore be played in Marseille”.

The Paris Games will start on July 26, 2024, i.e. after the Top 14 final, but the necessary adjustments to the Stade de France explain this relocation to Marseille.

The Stade Vélodrome will already this year be the scene of the finals of the European Rugby Cup, on May 28, and of the European Challenge, the day before.

This decision was taken on Monday by the LNR’s steering committee which, after consultation, also announced that the semi-finals of next season (2022-23) would take place in San Sebastián, in the Basque Country. Spanish. Bordeaux will also host the semi-finals of the 2024-25 season.

This season, the Top 14 semi-finals will be played in Nice (June 17 and 18) before the final at the Stade de France on Friday June 24.
