Adnan Januzaj joined from Manchester United in 2017 and played a total of 167 appearances for Txuri-Urdin. The winger scored 23 goals in the Basque Country and won the Copa del Rey last year with Sociedad.
The Basque club wanted to open Januzaj’s expiring contract, but the proposal on the table could not convince Januzaj. “Adnan will not continue with the club next season,” Real Sociedad reported today.
“We would like to thank him for his dedication and commitment during his stay with us and wish him the best in his personal and professional future.”
Although national coach Roberto Martinez had warned that a transfer this summer “contains risks” with a view to the World Cup in Qatar, Januzaj is looking for other places. It is not yet clear where his next adventure lies.
