Now it’s official – Dortmund is stealing the next jewel away from ManCity!
BVB has signed top talent Jayden Braaf (19). The club confirmed this on Friday. The young Dutch international comes on a free transfer from Manchester City and has signed a contract with Dortmund until June 30, 2025.
Soon sports director Sebastian Kehl (42): “Jayden, whose development we have been following closely for years, has shown in the past that he can be a difference player with his pace and talent. After more than a year out through injury, he will certainly need time to regain his former strength and fully establish himself in men’s football. We want to give him this time and gently introduce him. If Jayden gets through the phase ahead and stays clear, we have a great talent on board in him.”
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano had previously reported on the deal: “Many clubs were interested, but Braaf only wants to switch to BVB.”
This makes the Dutchman the third city talent to come from the island into the pot. Jadon Sancho (21/now Man United) came in 2017 for the bargain price of 7.84 million euros, mega-talent Jamie Bynoe-Gittens (17/still at BVB) moved to Germany in 2020 on a free transfer.

BVB have been watching the winger for years and have always been very interested in a commitment – now the time has finally come!
Will he be the new Jadon Sancho? The parallels are clear! Both players are fast, tricky and can twirl on the left as well as on the right wing.
Braaf was trained by Ajax Amsterdam and Eindhoven when he was young, before moving from PSV to Man City in 2018. Under coach Pep Guardiola (51) he never got a chance, primarily played in the U23 Premier League club. He was loaned out to Udinese Calcio for the last six months (four games, one goal), now moving to Dortmund! Shortly before the end of the 2020/21 season, Braaf sustained a serious knee injury.
Due to the meteoric rise of Sancho, the English want to be assured of a buyback option in the event of a possible transfer this time.
