NHL | Carolina – NY Rangers 3: 1, Hurricanes knocked down Rangers thanks to Nečas’ assistance, Edmonton is in the conference finals

Carolina struck for the first time in the 13th minute in its own weakening. Jordan Staal invited Vincent Trocheck to score with a great frog and he easily passed Igor Šestorkin. “Jordan’s pass was incredible, it hit me right on the stick,” Trocheck said. “I thought the defending players would reach me, but the pass speeded up the game and I had plenty of time to finish,” he added.

The Rangers’ second overtime was much better. After a winning throw and a quick combination of Artemis Panarin with Adam Fox, Mika Zibanejad came to the shot from the top of the left circle and equalized with his sixth goal in the elimination fights.

The decisive goal also fell in the unbalanced number of players on the ice. The Rangers offered the home team the first power play just before halfway, and the Hurricanes did not hesitate to use it. Seth Jarvis found Teuv Teräväinen from the blue line, and the Finnish striker hit exactly over Sixkorin’s shoulder after twenty-two seconds of numerical advantage.

Andrej Svečnikov secured Carolina’s seventh home win in this play-off in the 54th minute, who used a separate escape after Nečas’s offer.

The Rangers will avert the elimination on Sunday night at Madison Square Garden. “It sounds like a cliché, but we only focus on the home duel. We can take a lot of things out of today’s match that we should avoid at home. We will fight there from the first substitution,” said striker Chris Kreider.

The Oilers decided the drama in overtime

The second period of the match between Calgary and Edmonton offered a captivating spectacle. Flames entered it with a lead of 1: 0, which was increased by Mikael Backlund in the 26th minute. Less than five minutes later, the Oilers leveled. However, it was only a prelude for an incredible 71 seconds between the 35th and 37th minutes.

At 34:57, Zach Hyman sent guests for the first time. After 31 seconds, everything was different, after a hit by Johnny Gaudreau and Calle Järnkrok, they kept a close home lead. But the Oilers responded in a flash and, thanks to Evan Bouchard, equalized to 4: 4. The timekeeper was showing 36:08 at that moment.

The third period ended without goals and the Battle of Alberta was extended. The home team got in the first big chance in it, but Mike Smith in the Edmonton goal dealt with Elias Lindholm’s shot. The decisive moment of the whole series came at the beginning of the 66th minute. After the collaboration of the two most productive playoff players with a shot at Jacob Markström, McDavid pushed through.

“It’s probably the most important goal I’ve scored so far. It’s hard to put into words what it means to me,” McDavid said. “It was a special series, the fans in both arenas were incredible, I’m glad we made it. We haven’t been very successful in the playoffs in recent years, so this year we’re really hungry for success,” continued the phenomenal Canadian striker.

McDavid and Draisaitl have confirmed their dominance in this year’s elimination fights. Both scored 26 points in nine games for nine goals and seventeen assists and together they rule productivity. Draisaitl recorded four recordings in the fifth game and closed the series with Calgary with a balance of 2 + 15. Only Boston-based Rick Middleton, who finished the series with Buffalo in 1983 with five goals and twelve assists, was better in the five-match series.

“I’m not here to talk about myself, the procedure is thanks to the whole team,” Draisaitl said. “We are happy for what we have achieved so far during the playoffs, but we are only halfway through. We have to prepare for the next round,” added the German striker.

In the Western Conference finals, Edmonton will face one of the Colorado-St. Louis. The hockey players are Avalanche closer, they lead 3: 2. The sixth duel is played on Saturday night in St. Louis.
