NBA News – Dennis Schröder looks forward to Free Agency: “Great feeling”

Dennis Schröder is going into the coming summer again as an unrestricted free agent and can choose his upcoming team. The German point guard is looking forward to the offseason with anticipation, but initially he will take on a different job.

“Being a free agent is a great feeling,” Schröder said in an interview DAZN. The 28-year-old was already a free agent in the summer of 2021 and signed a one-year contract in Boston at the time. After his trade with the Rockets, it now expires, so Schröder is again available on the open market.

“You can say I want to win a championship, then you go to a contender,” Schröder continued. “Or you say I want to be more on the ball and help the younger guys get better, then you go to a more average team.”

He experienced the latter situation after his trade to Houston. The Rockets are in the process of rebuilding and last season won just 20 games in 62 losses. After Schröder’s arrival, star rookie Jalen Green, among others, praised the German’s leadership qualities.

Allegedly, both sides can imagine a contract extension, but the Braunschweiger will take a close look at his options next summer. In 2021-2022, he earned $5.9 million, averaging 13.5 points and 4.6 assists with a 43.1 percent field shot rate (64 games) for the Celtics and Rockets.

Before the free agency starts in early July, however, Schröder will try another job. For DAZN he will be on the microphone for two games of the upcoming NBA Finals between the Golden State Warriors and Boston Celtics.

As the Bild reported, he will play in Game 1 on Friday night (2.30 a.m. live on DAZN) as well as making his Expert debut in Game 3 on June 9th. DAZN produces all Finals games with extensive coverage of its own DAZN-Space.
