Speaking of Republicans, he added emphatically, “There are currently 50 senators who are refusing to vote on HR8, which is a gun screening rule that the House passed long ago. There’s a reason they’re not voting : to stay in power.”
He continues: “I ask you, Mitch McConnell and all the senators (…): ‘Do you want to put your own lust for power over the lives of our children, our elders and our churchgoers?’ Because that’s what it looks like.” McConnell is the minority leader in the US Senate.

On Wednesday, 21 people, including 19 children and two adults, were reportedly killed in a gunshot at an elementary school in Uvalde, Texas. Public Safety Agency Sgt. Erick Estrada confirmed this to CNN.
