A tense and unfortunate moment was witnessed during the National Universiade 2022 which is disputed in City Juarez Chihuahua.
During one of the judo competitions, one of the participants passed away.
It was David Alejandro Gómez Flores, from the University of Guadalajarawho suffered a cardiac arrest after finishing his participation in his category in this sport.
Later in the news, the governor of Chihuahua, Maru Campos, issued a message on her Twitter account: “I deeply regret the death of David Alejandro Gómez Flores, a Judo athlete from the University of Guadalajara, who lost his life during the National Universiade , in Cd Juárez. I send my sincere condolences to family, friends and the sports community”.

The UDG also released a statement in this regard: “At the udg_oficial we deeply regret the death of David Alejandro Gómez Flores, a student at the
UDGVirtual_SUV and member of the university judo team. We send our condolences to his family and friends. Rest in peace”.
