Boxer Musa Yamak suffered a heart attack during a fight. He died in hospital as a result. Angry fans apparently disturbed the rescue workers during the emergency measures.

On Friday, boxer Musa Yamak secured the WBF light heavyweight title with a technical knockout. A day later, his next fight at a boxing event in Garching, Bavaria, ended tragically: in the fight against Hamza Wandera, according to a report on the “Boxen1” website, he collapsed shortly before the start of the third round and lost consciousness.

The light heavyweight had suffered a heart attack, apparently shortly after taking a hit to the head during the fight. Yamak was taken to the hospital where, according to police, he died in the afternoon hours on Sunday. The boxer from Munich was 38 years old.

As the police reported in a press release, the use of the paramedics was made more difficult by the public. Around 50 “emotionally affected” people would have harassed and disturbed the rescue services in the event hall. A total of 15 police patrols were sent to the event. Officers cordoned off the area around the treatment site while paramedics fought for the boxer’s life.

Even when Yamak was transported to the hospital after 90 minutes of resuscitation in the ring, there was no peace. According to the police, around 30 people also gathered on the hospital grounds, and the police had to intervene again to calm them down. The operation ended at around 3 a.m. It is not clear whether the athlete’s life could have been saved if there had been no disabilities. On the Internet, fans and friends on Musa Yamak’s social media profiles mourned the boxer who died too early.
