Mouscron also does not receive a license on appeal and drops to second amateur | 1B Pro League

Last month, Mouscron was denied a license for professional and amateur football from the License Committee for the seventh time in eight years. The License Committee ruled “that the continued existence of the club until June 30, 2023 (end of season) cannot be guaranteed”.

Mouscron still paid wages for March and April, but was still desperately looking for a buyer since the partnership with Lille had broken down. Since there is still a criminal investigation for forgery of documents, the candidates are not lining up.

On Tuesday, the club informed its players that it will not receive a professional license from the Belgian Center for Arbitration in the Sports Sector (C-SAR) in appeal, according to a tweet from player Jérémy Taravel.

“Sad news for the fans, employees and all young people of Mouscron, but no license,” writes the experienced defender. “Many thanks to all the REAL people who tried to build something and fought for Mouscron.”

Mouscron drops to the second amateur class due to this decision, where it has to start with a deficit of minus three points.

At least if the club doesn’t disappear from the radar completely. There is a rumor in the French-speaking press that the club will file for bankruptcy, but Mouscron has not yet confirmed this. Mouscron would still have to clear a mountain of debt of 4 million euros.
