Mexico is in mourning: judoca dies during the 2022 National Universiade

The student community and Mexican sports are in mourning. This Saturday the University of Guadalajara announced that David Alejandro Gómez Flores, a boy who was dedicated to judo and who competed at the National University this year, had died.

Through its social networks, the University indicated that they regretted the death of this athlete and one of his students. According to reports, the judoka looked after a cardiorespiratory arrest while in that competition.

“During his individual participation in the division of more than 100 kg he suffers a cardiorespiratory arrest. The athlete received CPR by the medical personnel who were at the venue of said competitions

“Later, the specialty medical center was transferred by ambulance where he was admitted to the intensive care area and where he finally lost his life,” the institution reported.

In this regard, Dr. Armando Tonatiuh Mondragón Rodríguez, who is a specialist in the sports teams of the U de G, stated that this student was in the administration career of organizations and during his participation in the aforementioned competition started to feel bad.

He also reported that the first thing the student felt was dizziness, so he sat down. The referee of the competition told him to stop but when he wanted to get up he couldn’t and that’s when the medical services came into action, since he fell unemployed; However, he stated that he did not there was no catalyst for this event like a hit or any other action within his sport.

In this way, the Mexican judoka died while he was at this year’s university, so the head of the National Commission for Physical Culture and Sport (Conade), Ana Gabriela Guevara as well as the governor of Chihuahua, Maru Campos mourn the passing of this student.
