Is poker now picking up speed for a possible change from Mario Götze (29)?
There have been rumors for a long time that the 2014 World Cup hero is thinking about leaving Eindhoven – at least since it became clear that PSV coach Roger Schmidt (55) will leave the club for Benfica Lisbon this summer.

According to the Portuguese sports newspaper “A Bola”, there is a desire in Lisbon to lure Götze to Portugal after Schmidt. Under the ex-Leverkusen coach, the former Dortmunder had blossomed again this season in Holland. In a total of 52 competitive games, Götze scored twelve goals and eleven assists.
So it’s no wonder that Eindhoven doesn’t really want to let him go. PSV sports director John de Jong has now made this clear publicly: “No player said he wanted to leave, not even Mario. That gives us a good feeling for next season.”
So does this sentence reveal the Götze future? Will the world champion stay in Eindhoven? His contract in the Netherlands runs until 2024.
With a view to the Benfica speculation, de Jong warned his previous coach in an interview with “Voetbal International”: “I have not discussed this matter with Roger Schmidt, but if he wants, he can bring a bag with a lot of money! Then we will talk soon.”
Sounds like the last word in Götze poker hasn’t been spoken this summer…
