Man seriously injured in old town with “mansdaughter”.

The police had a lot to do in the old town over the weekend. Video surveillance helped in two cases. A man is wanted who used a prohibited weapon in a dispute on Mühlenstraße.

In an argument in front of an old town pub, a man was seriously injured with a so-called slayer. According to the police, the perpetrator hit the victim with the weapon – which resembles a baseball bat and is prohibited – and had to be taken to a hospital in an ambulance. There is no further information on the condition. The search for the perpetrator has so far been unsuccessful. The crime happened on Sunday night around 1:30 a.m. on Mühlenstraße.

It was one of several major incidents over the weekend. The police reports a “high intensity of use” in Düsseldorf’s party district, where there was a lot going on because of the good weather. As the hour progressed and the level of alcoholism among visitors to the old town increased, the potential for aggression increased noticeably, the police said. This meant that all patrols had to be used almost continuously.

In many cases, the police officers could have arrested suspects due to quick and consistent action. As in the past weekends, the officers had to deal with groups of young people who are said to have committed robberies and other crimes.

In two cases, video surveillance apparently paid off on Saturday night. At 1:46 a.m., a police officer saw on the screen how two perpetrators punched a suspected homeless man and kicked him when he was already on the ground. Although the perpetrators had changed their outer clothing, they were later caught by a patrol. Three hours later, the police recognized a pickpocket on the video, and four suspected perpetrators were arrested. At 1:29 a.m., the police also caught a man who was noticed by a gun – it was a dummy.

For the night of Sunday, the police listed two other major incidents in their balance sheet. According to this, around 2.30 a.m., a wild pee and a companion who resisted the police were taken into custody. Half an hour later, a woman who had attacked officers with punches and kicks also ended up in a cell. According to the police, they had tried to settle a fight between her and two other women.
