Lakers will interview Warriors assistant Kenny Atkinson

The Los Angeles Lakers are still in their interview process for the head coaching position ahead of the upcoming NBA season and have received permission from the Golden State Warriors to interview their assistant coach, Kenny Atkinson.

According to journalist Adrian Wojnarowski, Atkinson will be considered to take over the Lakers’ bench and he has also been interviewed by the Charlotte Hornets.

Atkinson, 54, was the head coach of the Brooklyn Nets from 2016-2020. He is recognized for his career as a strategist, especially his offensive tactics.

The Lakers went through a season where they never found their winning rhythm. Injuries to Anthony Davis and LeBron James sidelined the team, but the poor integration of Russell Westbrook also took its toll on the currency.

The president of the team, Jeanie Buss, ruled out this Wednesday that LeBron James could leave the team, so he will continue to be the main figure of the Californian team.
