Lewis Hamilton had another ‘medical exception’ for his jewelry in Spain, but he really must have removed them all during the race weekend in Monaco. Whether he will actually do this is doubtful, but according to MV Motorsport driver Esmee Kosterman, Hamilton should not be so difficult.
Hamilton has been at loggerheads with the FIA for some time over the jewelry rule, which was recently revived by the motorsport federation. Drivers are not allowed to wear body decorations during race sessions and the FIA has recently checked this again. Anyone who does not comply with these rules can face a hefty fine – or even worse in the event of repeated violations. Hamilton is vehemently against this rule, saying he has two piercings that he can’t remove either. The Briton therefore received a temporary exception for the Grands Prix of Miami and Spain, but must already be in Monaco bling bling have disappeared. Rightly so, says Kosterman.
Kosterman finds jewelry during racing “very irritating”

When asked how she feels about wearing jewelry as a woman, she says the following: “I find it very annoying sitting, so I always take off my rings and earrings and basically all my jewelry. Especially if you put on your helmet, you feel that hard bit, so it doesn’t bother me.”
Hamilton shouldn’t make such a “big spectacle”
According to her, there are few women who get behind the wheel with as much jewelry as Hamilton. “I never really see girls who drive with such jewelry as Lewis Hamilton,” says Kosterman. “They basically just take them off.” Kosterman thinks it right that the FIA will stop the so-called medical exception for Hamilton from Monaco. “I actually think it all has to come off. It can also just be taken out and after the race you just put it back in. It’s a small thing. You don’t have to make it such a big spectacle. Just do it nice out.”
