Is Bayern threatened with a new transfer zoff?

Those responsible at FC Bayern are currently working flat out on the squad of the future. After the disappointing season with the early end of the cup and the Champions League, there are a few construction sites that Hasan Salihamidzic has to take care of. Julian Nagelsmann also thinks a lot about newcomers and has clear ideas in this regard. According to current media reports, the sports director and coach do not really agree on transfers. Accordingly, there is now a “tense relationship” between the two. Is Bayern threatened with a new transfer zoff like once between Salihamidzic and ex-coach Hansi Flick?

Julian Nagelsmann has publicly emphasized several times in recent weeks that he wants new players in the summer. According to consistent media reports, he is hoping for at least one new midfielder, right-back and central defender. As “Sport BILD” reports, the 34-year-old has recently repeatedly “deposited player wish lists with the management floor in Munich”. However, those responsible at Säbener Straße are still very reluctant when it comes to new signings, which causes frustration for Nagelsmann.

Are Bayern experiencing a deja vu like with Flick?

According to “Sport BILD”, there are already fears within FCB that a new transfer problem like that between Hansi Flick and Salihamidzic could develop. The Sextuple trainer had publicly called for newcomers at the beginning of 2020. This was the beginning of a long-term feud between the two, which ultimately led to the end of the successful coach in the summer of 2021.

As the newspaper claims to have learned, Nagelsmann and his coaching staff currently lack confidence in chief squad planner Salihamidzic. Accordingly, one doubts whether Bayern can actually strengthen the squad qualitatively in the summer. With Noussair Mazraoui and Ryan Gravenberch, two transfers are on the home stretch. In addition, FCB is working on a commitment from Konrad Laimer and is exploring the transfer market in search of a new central defender.

Nagelsmann would like more support from the Bayern bosses

In addition, there should always be discussions about Bayern’s game system. While Nagelsmann is sticking to the back three, the Bayern bosses are not really convinced of this basic orientation and prefer a classic 4-2-3-1, as it was played (successfully) in Munich for years.

The coach, on the other hand, is said to be dissatisfied that there have been numerous off-field issues in recent months that have influenced sporting events too much. This includes the many open contract extensions with top performers such as Robert Lewandowski and Serge Gnabry. The vaccination debate surrounding Joshua Kimmich and Qatar sponsorship also caused a lot of unrest in Munich and in the dressing room last fall. The 34-year-old would like to see more support from the Bayern bosses on such issues in the future.
