Family reunions are sometimes good. The Brocéliande sport nature festival, which began on Saturday May 14, 2022, at Lac au Duc, in Taupont (Morbihan), is proof of this. Bringing together multiple sports associations from the territory of the Pays de Ploërmel, the event enabled several thousand people over the whole weekend (including 1,100 runners, a figure close to the 2019 attendance record) to reconnect with this classic of the summer season. Put down the masks, make way for sport and the benefits of nature.

Varied activities, from Breton puck to rock climbing

This weekend, there were first those who, like Kévan Mantelet, came to promote their passion. Met when he tries his hand at archery during the lunch break, this member of the young Ploermelaise association of Street workout Plobarz is happy to participate in this event. “Here, we mainly do initiation and demonstrations. The goal is to show what we can do with our body. »

Many competitions also took place at the same time, from Nordic walking to trail running and paddle racing, all levels combined. Organizing the club’s first open water swimming race, Laurent Schram of the UNP (Union des nageurs ploërmelais) aimed to promote the body of water. “It went very well, we had about a hundred participants with more people who registered on the spot. » Mission successful then.

“A feeling of freedom found”

In the dry, under the trees bordering the Lac au Duc beach, other visitors were also able to discover the Ploërmel Wizards baseball-softball club. For Philippe Caprin, a volunteer, it’s about “introduce this sport to the public by having them hit a ball. That’s really the fun side of this practice. There are a lot of people since this morning, especially children. »

Right next door, Gäetan, a cycling fan who came straight from Sérent, watched his son Romain learn golf with the help of a teacher. “I came to see the activities offered this year, it’s really nice. It feels good to test other sports disciplines and there is also a feeling of regained freedom. »

It is this hodgepodge of activities that is the strength of Brocéliande sport nature. For the associations present, the event also makes it possible to re-establish a link with the population when many have lost volunteers during the Covid pandemic.

Alain Hervé, vice-president in charge of cultural and sports affairs, was obviously satisfied with this restart. “It gives morale to see that such an event responds to public expectations. Everyone needs to decompress, to resume a normal life. »
