“I have never said that Falcao was close to reaching Junior”: Perea

Many comments were generated since Wednesday, after the journalist Carlos Antonio Vélez assured that he saw an interview in Spain on the Bein Sports Channel, in which Luis Amaranto Perea confessed that Radamel Falcao García was about to reach Junior before joining to Rayo Vallecano, in the middle of the previous year.

Fans, journalists and others were surprised by Vélez’s version. It had never been rumored or talked about in Barranquilla about the possibility that ‘el Tigre’ would dress in the colors of the rojiblanco. EL HERALDO, trying to find out more details about what the renowned Manizalita communicator told, spoke with the Antioquian coach and he completely denied that he had said a word about a negotiation between Falcao and Junior in mid-2021.

“I have never said that Falcao was close to arriving. It has never been contemplated, at least when I was in Junior, that Falcao could arrive. It is new for me. At no time have I said that Falcao was close, because he would lie, that did not happen with me, “he said in dialogue with EL HERALDO.

“That was not even contemplated, so there must be some confusion, because there was never an approach. Falcao’s name was never used in the meetings I had with Fuad (Char). That is why I am a bit surprised that my name is related a bit to a possible arrival of Falcao to Junior. He is an unattainable soccer player for any team in Colombia. I don’t know if even if he lowers his economic pretensions, some team here can get hold of his services. Beyond my relationship with him, nor in the search for the striker who could help us improve and make up for that absence of (Miguel) Borja, Falcao’s name was never touched,” he added.

Following the same line, the strategist, who currently resides in Spain, assured that Carlos Bacca was close to reaching the middle of the previous year.

“There was talk about Bacca, I understand that he did not finish signing due to an economic issue, that I can confirm that he was very close. For any team, in relation to Falcao, for what he represents, for what he adds, not only from a footballing and leadership point of view, it seems to me that it would have been a great bet if it had been true. I still think that if Falcao does not want to return to Colombia for a family issue or something similar, it would be too complicated for any team in the country to bring him because of his high cost”, commented the counselor.

With these words from the coach, who was in Junior between 2020 and 2021, it is ruled out that there was the possibility that the top scorer in the history of the Colombia team, Radamel Falcao García, wore the ‘Tiburón’ shirt, it was never managed, at least not during the Perean cycle.
