Germany’s tennis legend Boris Becker is going through what is probably the hardest time of his life – the 54-year-old has been in prison in London since April 29. Delayed bankruptcy, concealed assets – two and a half years in prison, according to the verdict of the English judge. Becker is now getting support from another great German athlete: For world champion Toni Kroos, one thing is certain: “In my eyes, he is and will remain an absolute hero in Germany, there is nothing to shake about that. He is really a totally pleasant, fine person.” , so Kroos in the current episode of his podcast “Einfach mal luppen”

The football star is thinking about Boris Becker

“I didn’t believe that Boris Becker really had to go to prison – or didn’t want to believe it. I was totally with him in my thoughts during the days,” says the footballer, who plays for Real Madrid, in the podcast.

“Boris Becker probably didn’t do everything right in his life. Who has? Maybe he did a little more wrong than others or was a bit too naive here and there. It’s probably according to the law – the way it is – also the just punishment,” muses Kroos, who hopes that the tennis legend will get through the difficult time well: “I can only wish him a lot of strength and that the time passes as quickly as possible in his perception. I am very happy hopefully to see him again afterwards in good condition.”
