Peñarol defeated Malvín 69-64 in the fifth and final match of the quarterfinal series of the Uruguayan Basketball League and as the winner he got into the semifinals of the tournament where he will face Aguada or Goes.
On Monday, Trouville and Biguá qualified, also in the fifth game, and will meet each other in the semifinals.
The game was suspended with four seconds to go when Peñarol already had an undeniable advantage for Malvín.
Nicola Pomoli got into an argument with John Flowers claiming that he had made some gesture.
That led to the players piling up and several beginning to argue and others to separate.
At a certain moment, the president of Malvín César Somma entered.
When the arbitration trio went to review what happened on the monitor to determine if they should adopt any disciplinary decision, Somma got in the way of Alejandro Sánchez Varela. They were face to face and Somma made strong protests. The referees turned around and Gonzalo Salgueiro made the sign to end the game.
As has happened in similar situations, the match will be concluded and Malvín will surely receive a sanction that he must serve in the next League.

Malvín reacted in the third quarter and based on his strength in taking the rebound, evened up the game.
But in the closing, Peñarol was better and justified his victory.
Flowers was the top scorer with 18, Orlando Méndez made 12 with 4 of 5 triples, while Zanotta made 10.
In his second League, after his return to basketball in 2018, Peñarol is already a semifinalist.
