At a ceremony in Bensheim’s Geschwister-Scholl-School, District Administrator Christian Engelhardt honored the achievements of the volunteers. “What the power of volunteering can achieve is something we are experiencing again with the wave of willingness to help that the refugees from Ukraine are carrying. But the same applies beyond that: Without volunteer work, we would be poorer as a society.”
From culture to nature conservation
The honorees come from different areas: from aid organizations, social groups, from sports, culture and customs, from animal and nature conservation as well as fruit and gardening. Numerous municipalities are also represented: Abtsteinach (3 people), Bensheim (7), Biblis (2), Bürstadt (9), Gorxheimertal (1), Grasellenbach (1), Heppenheim (8), Lampertheim (3), Lindenfels (6 ), Lorsch (5), Viernheim (8) and Zwingenberg (7). More than 40 honorees attended the ceremony in Bensheim.
