Four women and one man, members of the basketball teams, have been called up for the national pre-selection for the World University Games to be held in Chengdu, China, from June 26 to July 7.

From the women’s branch they are Diana Cano Ledezma, Diana Villalobos Cruz, Ángel Fierro Sánchez and Viridiana Mazocco Flores. The manly element that will have the opportunity to be evaluated is José Alberto Cruz Abarca.
The four feathered ones already know what it means to represent the country: Diana Cano was a U17 World Cup player in Spain 2017, Ángel Fierro had the entire COCABA, Centrobasket and FIBA Americas process with an age limit, Viridiana Mazzocco was also a U17 World Cup player in the Czech Republic 2014 and Diana Villalobos, likewise, attended the FIBA World Cup U17 (2014) and U19 (2017).
The convocation letter was sent by Manuel Alan Merodio Reza, Executive General Secretary of CONDDE, to Dr. Emilio José Baños Ardavín, Rector of UPAEP.
At the last World Universiade, held in Naples in 2019, the basketball team had two representatives: Ingrid Martínez Treviño and Sandra Saide Vargas Peraza; both today, professional players-
Regarding the men’s branch, the last two representatives of UPAEP in a World Universiade were Alberto Domingo Rodríguez Alvarado and Ricardo Calatayud Ávila in the edition of Gwangju, South Korea in 2015.
