FC Schalke: He is the number 1 sales candidate – football

This will be a hot transfer summer for the Royal Blues!

Sports director Rouven Schröder (46) wants to turn a top team in the second division into a solid first division team. Most important mission: keep as many promotion heroes as possible tied to the club. In order for that to succeed and for the squad to be strengthened at certain points, fresh coal is needed.

In “Stammplatz”, the daily football podcast from BILD, Schalke reporter Max Wessing reveals how Schröder intends to put together a powerful squad. “There will be no major upheaval like last summer. I expect about five departures and five newcomers.”

But the truth is that Schalke must part with at least one player with a high market value in order to be able to use the money to make the necessary transfers and extensions. The most likely departure is a German U21 international. Wessing: “Malick Thiaw (20) is the number 1 sales candidate at Schalke. It is also very clear on the market that it would be sold.”

According to transfermarkt.de, Thiaw’s market value is 5 million euros.

The Royal Blues would like to keep central defender Ko Itakura (25). The Japanese is currently on loan from Manchester City. The Schalke have a purchase option in the amount of about 6 million euros. A sum that could be raised much more easily at Schalke with a Thiaw sale.

In addition, reporter Max Wessing reveals in the new episode how things should continue with Schalke loan players Armine Harit (24/Marseille) and Ozan Kabak (22/Norwich).
