Fan trouble at night
The night before the game, there were arguments between Eintracht and West Ham fans in Frankfurt. According to the police, more than 30 people were arrested.
In Waxy’s Pub, a window broke in an attack by Eintracht chaos on English fans, bar stools and glasses were thrown.
Pub employee Ed to BILD: “All the West Ham fans were having fun, then suddenly the Eintracht Ultras appeared during the Champions League game between Real and Manchester City. They threw things at West Ham fans. The Ultras came because there were no police. Today will be different. The police will be there. We were lucky, there was only a shattered window. It could have been worse. They just wanted to throw things and cause trouble, terrible football fans…”
A bar worker suffered minor injuries, police said. The pub’s inventory was also said to have been damaged with baseball bats.
