Eintracht Frankfurt: Mayor embarrasses himself at Römer reception – Bundesliga

What was that?!

Frankfurt’s Lord Mayor Peter Feldmann (63/SPD) caused laughter and shaking of heads with his appearance at the Eintracht reception at the Römer.

When the Euro heroes arrived at the town hall on Thursday shortly after 9 p.m. after hours of car parade through the city, Feldmann first snatched the pot from captain Sebastian Rode (31) and trainer Oliver Glasner (47). Both looked at each other in amazement, exchanged surprised looks.

hr commentator Florian Nass was also surprised, saying on TV: “Mayor Peter Feldmann’s share was not quite so large that he would have to take over the trophy right away … Sebastian Rode is surprised.”

When Feldmann then started his speech, he was mercilessly hissed at by the fans on the Römerberg.

The Mayor then listed every player who played in the final in Seville against Glasgow Rangers. Feldmann had problems with pronunciation with almost every Eintracht professional. A sample: he greeted Makoto Hasebe as Makoto Hasabi.

Eintracht’s Euro heroes couldn’t help but laugh.

Then the breakdown show continued. Feldmann: “I would like to welcome the board with you: Axel Hellmann, as sports director Oliver Frankenbach.”

Frankenbach is the finance boss at Eintracht. After all, he quickly followed: “And of course Markus Krösche!”

By the way: In March 2022, the Frankfurt public prosecutor’s office brought charges against Peter Feldmann on suspicion of accepting an advantage. Feldmann wants to remain in office until 2024 and then not run again for mayor.
