It was walls of decades of enmity that the police had to tear down in Leipzig on Saturday. The night before the city derby against Lok Leipzig, supporters of BSG Chemie Leipzig bricked up the tunnel to the stadium – so that the fan march of the city rivals couldn’t get through!
A wall was built with aerated concrete blocks and construction foam in the so-called “Mausefalle”, the underpass under the Leutzscher train station. The message: “Life is like a box of chocolates”. Because the next nasty surprise only came to light when it was torn down: behind it was a second wall…
The morning before the game (3:30 p.m.), the police finally arrived, armed with wheelbarrows and hammers. “The emergency services tore down both walls and secured evidence,” said a police spokesman. “The tunnel was also smeared with horse manure.”
What a nasty act of revenge! Background: In September, Lok fans dumped a huge heap of crap in front of the gate to the chemists’ players’ tunnel. Inside was a flag with the message: “Delivered as ordered.” Previously, chemical supporters had distributed stickers around the city on which Lok-Ultras posed in front of a big shit emoji.
Year after year, the taunts begin a new round – this time, foul-smelling and at taxpayers’ expense. The remains of the wall had to be removed with a container, and almost 15 officers were involved in the demolition.
From 1.00 p.m. the Lok Leipzig fan march with around 500 supporters is to move from the Schützenhof through the tunnel, which is now accessible again, to the guest block.
