Court invades Lille and takes a closer look at the transfer of Osimhen | league 1

This would include the transfer of striker Victor Osimhen (ex-Charleroi), who moved from Lille to Dries Mertens’ Napoli in the summer of 2020 for an amount of more than 71 million euros.

The transfer of the Nigerian attacker was previously investigated by the Italian Football Association as part of a large-scale fraud investigation into more than 60 transfers. Several clubs were then suspected of purposely misappraising the value of players.

Osimhen’s transfer was completed during the tenure of previous chairman Gerard Lopez, a wealthy Spanish-Luxembourg businessman. The current owner of the northern French club, investment fund Merlyn Partners and CEO Olivier Létang, decided in June last year not to pay any further commissions to brokers negotiated in the transfer.

“We want the legal framework to be respected,” Olivier Letang said at the time. Since then, there has been regular altercation in the press between Létang and previous owner Lopez.
