Bundesliga: Hoffenheim fires coach Sebastian Hoeneß! – Bundesliga

Next please…

TSG Hoffenheim has fired coach Sebastian Hoeneß (40). (BILD reported first)

The club had not won the last 9 (!) league games (including 6 bankruptcies). The 1:5 on the last matchday in Gladbach was the last straw.

Sports Director Alexander Rosen: “We have always clearly expressed our appreciation for the coach and person Sebastian Hoeneß in the past few months. This is another reason why the decision was not easy for us. However, after an analysis that started before the last matchday, we have to admit that the results and events of the past two months have overshadowed many of the numerous positive aspects that this season had in store and that meanwhile brought us up to fourth place. The all-important question that we had to ask ourselves after these negative impressions was whether we as a club could start the new season unencumbered in this constellation. After in-depth discussions, we jointly answered this question in the negative.”

Hoeness explains: “After a detailed discussion with Alexander Rosen and the club’s management yesterday afternoon, we jointly agreed to end our cooperation. (…) In the past few weeks we have carried out an intensive analysis of our joint work and have not found any consensus on the future direction. Therefore, from my point of view, an amicable separation is logical.”

As a result, the coaching quake in the Bundesliga is getting bigger. After Adi Hütter (52 / Gladbach), Markus Weinzierl (47 / Augsburg) and Florian Kohfeldt (39 / Wolfsburg), Hoeneß is not going into the new season with his club either.

Uli Hoeneß’s nephew took over at Hoffenheim in the summer of 2020. At that time he had come from Bayern’s second team. With the “little Bavarians” he had won the championship in the 3rd division.

In his first season, Hoeneß brought TSG to 11th place. The season was characterized by turbulent corona outbreaks, many injuries and the additional burdens in the Europa League.

Therefore, the expectations for the second season were all the greater. After 25 games, Hoffenheim was still fourth in the table – and therefore on course for the Champions League.

Then came the burglary! Europe gone with it!

His contract originally ran until the summer of 2023. So now the early separation.
