BNXT League – Ostend first finalist in the national playoffs, Mechelen takes the lead against Leuven

(Belga) Ostend is the first finalist in the national playoffs of the BNXT League, the Belgian-Dutch basketball championship, after its 90-48 victory against Mons on Saturday in the third leg of the semi-finals.

After ten balanced first minutes (19-14), the Montois completely broke down in the second and third quarters. With a lead of 31 points (70-39) before the last quarter, Ostend could manage to win 90-48. Pierre-Antoine Gillet finished as the game’s top scorer for the Côtiers with 17 points. Ostend is aiming for a 23rd title of Belgian champion, the eleventh in a row. In the final, the Côtiers will face Malines or Louvain. After restoring the tie in Leuven on Wednesday, the Mechelen narrowly won (78-75) in front of their home crowd in the third set to lead 2-1 in the series. Mechelen will qualify for the final if they win Monday in Leuven. Mons is drafted in the cross-border playoffs of the BNXT League. The Foxes will face Basketbal Academie Limburg or Feyenoord in the third round. (Belga)
