Defeated in the first match of the ladies’ SB League final on Sunday, the Fribourgeoises came back to 1-1 in the series on Wednesday.
After its surprise defeat on Sunday against Nyon in its hall in Saint-Léonard, Elfic Friborg recovered on Wednesday evening, winning the second match of the SB League women’s final 81-64 to come back to 1-1 in the best-of-five series.
Their first defeat after 21 victorious matches in a row had caused concern, but the girls trained by Romain Gaspoz were able to take matters into their own hands in front of the 300 spectators present.
Still, the victory was not easy to acquire. Hakim Salem’s players capitalized on their first won duel and entered the match perfectly, trailing by only one length at halftime (40-39).
It was in the third quarter that the Fribourgeoises finally made the difference, inflicting a 23-12 on the Vaudoises. Nyonnaises who did not manage to catch up and who still dropped five points in the last quarter (18-13).
The third act of this exciting final will take place on Sunday at 3 p.m. at the Center Sportif du Rocher in Nyon.
