The world of sports in Barbastro will dress up this Thursday with the celebration by its City Council of the Sports Gala, an event that reaches its 26th edition and will serve to reward the best athletes of 2021. In total, 22 awards will be distributed in ten categories.
The list of winners is led by the cyclist Iván Pañart and the athlete Verónica Escartín, chosen best athletes in 2021. In addition, at the gala a special mention will be made to the pilot from Barbastro José Ramón Castillón and his co-pilot Concha Velazquezrunners-up in Spain in regularity rallies.
In the section with the greatest sports projection, the athlete Arturo Armisenthe badminton player Marcos Rafaelto the gymnast Maria Puyo and the basketball players Nicholas Gilaberte y Bruno Panart. In the team modality, in the absolute category, the merits of the senior team of Union Basket Barbastrowhich achieved promotion to the First Autonomous Region.
With regard to the non-absolute teams, the winners are the cadet team of the AD Barbastro Base; youth rhythm team Club 2000 Barbastro; and the mixed children’s team 12-14 of group aesthetic gymnastics of Club 2000 Barbastro. In addition, the chess team of the IES Martinez Vargas who participated in the Dubai Expo World Tournament.
Ferdinand Fernandez y Anthony Garcia Valeriocoaches of the SMA women’s volleyball team, will be honored in the category of sports technician. César Abraldes, which since 2019 has been part of Aso, the organizing company of the Dakar Rally in which it has participated since then as a liaison officer between the organization and the participants, will receive the sports judge award. And the award for sports sponsorship will go to the Naval Dental Clinic Navarro.
In addition, the XXVI Barbastro Sports Gala will have two special posthumous recognitions for Luis Masgrau Gómez y Sandra Salamero Ayén.
