Archery: the best young French people performed in Saint-Jean-de-Védas

Big success of the second round of the National Youth Archery Tournament in Saint-Jean-de-Védas, near Montpellier, with more than 200 archers and high-level results.

Organized by the club Arc Lat’Védas Montpellier Mediterranean Metropolisthe second round of the National Youth Tournaments (TNJ) season took place on Friday 6, Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 May at the Étienne-Vidal municipal sports complex in Saint-Jean-de-Védas, near Montpellier.

For 3 days, it welcomed more than 200 athletes, archers from the “young” categories and coaches, allowing them to compete at the high national level. Indeed, all the France and Espoir poles and their archers from the young French teams were present, as well as many archers from all the clubs in France, thus giving a truly national dimension to this competition.

The youth categories, girls and boys, in recurve and compound bow, in the benjamin, minimal, cadet and junior categories, were thus decided, allowing a first national ranking with a view to qualifying for national and international competitions.

The tournament was accomplished in perfect conditions, benefiting from mild weather without rain, without too much heat but also with little wind. The exemplary organization of the Arc Lat’Vedas MMM club, applauded by the representatives of the French Archery Federation (FFTA), by the town hall of Saint-Jean-de-Védas and by the refereeing body, carried its fruits with a smooth running without downtime, the archers even finishing each day ahead of schedule.*

The fifty volunteers provided by the club and by its partners, the Archers of Lunel, the Archers of the Sun, Montpellier Arc Club and the Archers of Gignac carried out their obscure tasks with mastery.

In terms of results, no records for this tournament at the start of the outdoor season, but all the leaders were there.

  • Among the junior boys, it was the Nîmes Iban Bariteaud, who won the duels, after having scored 647 out of 720 in qualification.
  • Among the junior girls, Montpellier’s Victoria Sebastian was grilled by Lucie Maunier of the Saint-Avertin club.
  • Among the girl cadets, Amélie Cordeau from Annemasse took the top step and among the boys, Manduel’s archer Baptiste Addis took first place.
  • In minimal girls, Mélina Tacusel de Manduel finished first, accompanied by Raphaël Armand de Rennes in the boys.
  • The youngest were also in contention but without duels: Keona De Rudniki (Montpellier) for the girls and Evan Lebas from Rennes for the boys won the gold medals.
  • Finally, in the mixed compound bow category, it was Candice Cadronet de Chauny who won the cup.

For the Arc Lat’Vedas club, Antoine Ségura reached 15th place in junior, Jules Trabuchet and Gaspard Wathelet 9th in minimal, as well as Marilee Timar. Mia Arenas is further back in 15th place, but among the youngest, Zoé Leduc-Etile is 4th, Alicia Martinet, 7th, and finally Louis La Rosa 4th, also losing in the quarter-final duels.
